Did you know Towards Better is a Certified Social Enterprise?
Social enterprises are businesses that put people and planet first. Across Australia there are over 12,000 social enterprises, creating more than 206,000 jobs and contributing $21.3 billion to our economy.
A social enterprise might be:
A graphic design company creating jobs for ex-offenders,
A gym offering affordable wellbeing services to the community, or
A retailer donating 50% of its profits to charity.
To qualify as a social enterprise, an organisation must:
Have a defined primary social, cultural or environmental purpose that delivers a clear public or community benefit.
Earn a substantial portion of its income from trade (not just grants or donations).
Invest its resources into its purpose so the public or community benefit outweighs any private gain.
Social enterprises operate in all sectors—from facilities management and hospitality to business administration and design.
Employment-generating – creates jobs and training opportunities for people who are marginalised or face barriers to work.
Service-delivering – provides vital community services where there are gaps in the market.
Profit-redistributing – directs a significant share of profits to a social or environmental cause.
At Towards Better, our purpose is to create inclusive employment and valued roles for people with disabilities, helping businesses and communities thrive.
Statement of Purpose- Our Mission
